Car runs over soya beans dealer in Kumba

In K-Town in Meme Division, residents are wondering how a popular Kumba based Soya dealer at a popular drinking spot around Buea Road met his untimely death after being knock down by a vehicle allegedly belonging to a 'bush faller', a Cameroonian who just returned from Abroad.

The Soya dealer whose name we only got as Genesis from Babungo extraction, in the North West Region was knock down by a car with registration number CE449DA around 10pm on Friday November 13th, 2014.

According to eye witness accounts, Genesis who resides around Babungo bar, a drinking spot in Hausas quarters Fiango had kept is commercial moto-bike around the popular drinking spot and was in a conversation with one of his tribesman.

Reports have it that, after their conversation he was about to take off to his residence, but a passenger beckoned him to give her a ride to Fiango. As he stood waiting for the passenger, a car driving on top speed lost control and knocked down Genesis who died on the spot.

The Senior State Counsel for Meme, Justice Batuo Paul Akong who later came to the scene, has already ordered for police investigation. While Genesis is currently at the Kumba District Hospital Mortuary, the driver whose name we couldn’t get by press time is currently at the Kumba Central Police Station though he sustained minor injuries.

It should be noted that with Christmas around the corners and with the influx of family members from the diaspora today affectionately called "Bush fallers” to Kumba, the rate of traffic congested will be very high, reasons why this area could be prone to accidents. The general public is entreated to be careful especially while on the road.
