Centre senators announce action plan

They were in Mfou on Saturday, July 12 to support councils of Mefou and Afamba Division and disclose their plan of action.

The Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM Senators in the Centre Region on July 12, announced an ambitious plan of action to set up their head office in Bastos, Yaounde and also create a Non-governmental Organisation that will be a lobbying platform to fetch for funds with which to support municipal councils of the Centre Region boost local development.

The leader of the Senators who doubles as one of the Vice Presidents in the Senate, Naah Ondoa Sylvestre made the declaration in Mfou, headquarters of the Mefou and Afamba Division during their working session with mayors and councilors of the eight councils found in the Division.

He said the Senators have created an association and work in synergy through collective tours to the different Divisions of the Region in order to inform the Councillors and the population at large on bills voted in Parliament, create a harmonious working platform with them and support development efforts.

As a living testimony of the commitment of the Senators to boost local development, they offered eight brand new motorcycles to the eight municipal councils in Mefou and Afamba Division, as well as computers costing over FCFA 7 million.

The visit to Mfou was the second lap of the Senators’ tour of the 10 Divisions of the Centre Region that was launched in Eseka, Nyong and Kelle Division in May 2014.

During the working session, Senator Laurent Nkodo informed the councilors of bills voted in Parliament in the June 2014 ordinary session, relations between the Senate and councils, CPDM Code of Conduct on collaboration between officials and the strategies the 10 Senators of the Centre Region have adopted to accelerate local development.

The Mefou and Afamba Senior Divisional Officer, Victor Mbemi N. saluted the initiative of the Senators and encouraged them to go ahead with the synergy.
