Chinese investors interested in four gov't projects

The Chief Executive Officer of the Regional Division of Africa of the Chinese company, CITIC Construction Company Co. Ltd, Guigen Liu yesterday, July 3, 2014 during an audience with Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang expressed the company’s interest in four projects out of the list of seven projects the Cameroon government presented to them.

The leader of the nine-member delegation of the CITIC Construction Company disclosed to reporters that the first area of interest concerns the construction of 10,000 low-cost houses, a project that will require 100 kilometres square of land.

The second project, he said, was the second phase of the construction of the Yaounde-Douala motorway.

The two other areas of interest, Guigen Liu said are the second phase of the Kribi Deep Seaport and the Yaounde-N’Djamena railway line.

The delegation members are expected to hold working sessions with some cabinet ministers, including the Minister of State Property, Surveys and Land Tenure with whom they will discuss modalities for the acquisition of land for the low-cost housing project, the characteristics of the houses with the Minister of Urban Development and Housing and the second phase of the Yaounde- Douala motorway with the Minister of Public Works.
