Chinese operator stripped of a sum of 1.4m francs

The Director of Mines in the East, Wang was stripped of a sum of 1.4 million francs.

According to corroborating information by the administrative authorities, the Director of the Eastern mining company was abducted on the night of September 26 at Kombo-Koro, village located 40 kilometres from Bertero-Oya, capital of the eponymous district.

Wang was released, on September 27 at Gado-Badzere, located about 30 kilometres from Garoua-Boulai. The Group of thugs were heavily armed and they tackled this Chinese operator in the locality of Kombo-Koro, at the level of the Mali River.

The bandits, altogether seven in number, according to sources, broke into this mining site hoping to recover gold. They were unpleasantly surprised when they realised after a thorough search of the site that the leaders of this company have already concealed their weekly production.

"The incursion of the gang did not reach its target, since the head of the company had already sent its production in a safe circuit. That is why the disappointed thugs abducted Mr. Wang in his own vehicle, pickup truck 4 x 4 to cover their escape and to anticipate a possible mill after their heist", according to a police source.

Not wanting to return empty-handed, the robbers stripped their victim of the sum of 1,400,000 francs and his two mobile phones, before abandoning him in a Grove not far from the Gado-Badzere village, on the axis of Garoua-Boulai.

Sources explain that the operation was aided by the fact that this mining company, based in a village in Borough of Bertero-Oya, was not secure. Administrative authorities regularly attracted the attention of miners on the importance to offer the services of the defence and security forces, when they engage in mining in remote areas.
