Christians, particularly those at the Etoug-Ebe Baptist Church in Yaounde have been told to celebrate Christmas without fear for the birth of Jesus Christ is a sign of victory over whatever obstacle they could be facing in their lives. This was the message preached to the congregation yesterday December 25 by Rev Philemon Nfor as he drew inspiration from the scriptural book Micah 5:1-8.
While speaking on the theme "Fear Not: Trust God for Victory" Rev Nfor said he is aware of the fears that come to the hearts of Christians particularly during the period of Christmas that people see as a period to buy many new things. Besides, the clergyman said people are more afraid about their future and that of their children especially as they see intelligent young people spend years at school, come out with certificates but are not able to get jobs. Christians learned that the realities for them to be afraid are there but there are good reasons for them to relax for God called Christians on that Christmas morning not to be afraid but rather trust Him for victory over all their problems.
Rev Philemon Nfor told the congregation that Jesus Christ has come to provide leadership in the will of God in a way that Israel and the world had never known. As Christians, God expects the Etoug-Ebe Baptist Church congregation to provide leadership because when the ruler ship is expressed in the power of God, there will be security, peace in the land and people will be blessed while those with misleading powers will be taken away. Although people's fears about their life, family, nation can be justified, the victory that comes from the Lord is most justified because according to the preacher; "Jesus is Almighty and all Powerful and his greatness gives people the power over struggles in life", he said
At the River of Life Christians Church, Christians were asked if they have a place in their hearts for the Lord, who has been born. Special songs and sketches about the birth of Jesus Christ spiced most church services on Christmas Day.
