Consupe trains Yaounde One University staff

Some staff of Cameroon's mother University, the University of Yaounde 1, have been warned to manage public finances in the most efficient and transparent way possible as per the rules and regulations governing the management of public finances in the country. The warning was sounded yesterday May 12, 2014 in Yaounde at the beginning of four-day training of some staff of the University by experts of the Supreme State Audit Office.

The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in Charge of Supreme State Audit Office, (CONSUPE), Henri Eyebe Ayissi told participants at the training that they were responsible both judicially and personally for their acts of misappropriation, reason why they have to take their work seriously and with transparency, for legal and disciplinary actions await any State functionary involved in the mismanagement of public finances.

Henri Eyebe Ayissi praised the option taken by the University of Yaounde 1 to train its staff on best practices on internal auditing so as to avoid future punches resulting from poor management. He said his outfit was ready to sensitise and train Yaounde 1 staff on national and international norms on safeguarding public financing for the growth of the country.

Aware of managerial challenges, the Rector of the University of Yaounde 1, Maurice Aurelien Sosso said he could not fold his arms and see himself in the dragnet of poor management meanwhile there is a structure that can help them surmount such challenges. For the sake of good governance and for the quest of shining above others, Aurelien Sosso said they were ready to gather all information and knowledge possible that can make them emerge and be at the top as one of the best in the management of public finances. The training ends on May 15.
