Emmanuel Etoundi Oyono, the Director General of the Autonomous Port Douala, has been sick since last year.

And in an article published two months ago by Cameroon-Info.Net, it revealed that he was evacuated abroad for medical care, he, however, finally died in France.

Emmanuel Etoundi Oyono passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2016 in Paris-France. Recently, he appeared in public, but wasn't in good health and had to be flown to France for medical care.

This was the second time he was flown to France in eight months.
On September 21, 2015, Emmanuel Etoundi Oyono had left Cameroon for a one-month mission abroad. He only returned to his native country after three months.

He had an extended stay due to a health problem. During this period, the Managing Director position of the Douala Port had been vacant for more than two months until the Board appoints, on December 11, 2015, the Deputy General Manager, Charles Michaux Moukoko Njoh as the interim.

However, on December 22, 2015, Emmanuel Etoundi Oyono returned to the country and had resumed his duties less than two weeks later, without fanfare, despite his fragile health.
