Director General of UNESCO visits Cameroon

The Director General of the United Nations Educational, Social and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Madam Irina BOKOVA will begin a 48 hour visit to Cameroon on 15 September 2014.

Madam BOKOVA is scheduled to have audience with the President of the Republic His Excellency Paul BIYA at Unity Palace during this visit.

The Head of State and the Director General of UNESCO already had their first meeting in Paris on 1st February 2013 on the side-lines of his official visit to France.

The visit of the Director General of UNESCO is testimony of the good relations between Cameroon and this prestigious organ of the United Nations.

We can cite as indicators of this good relationship the assistance to the consolidation of the educational system of Cameroon, the contribution to the setting up of mechanisms for the prevention and fight against HIV/AIDS through the Chantal BIYA International Research Centre, which she is going to visit.

Since 14 November 2008, the First Lay of Cameroon Mrs. Chantal BIYA is a Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO for education and social inclusion.
