Disturbing breakthrough of poaching in the South

Many seizures have been made in the region in recent days. At least 265 elephant tusks seized, these last days, are passed by the region of the South. 140 sea turtles recovered and many parrots with a red tail before were also confiscated.

The acts of poaching of protected wildlife species, presented during the last session of the regional committee for the fight against poaching, last Tuesday, in Ebolowa, are not exhaustive. The work chaired by the governor Jules Marcellin Ndjaga, has been able to prove that poaching is of great magnitude and has truly made a niche in the South. "The phenomenon is worrying and endemic in the region ", noted, the regional delegate of the ministry of forests and wildlife (Minfof).

Outbreaks of poaching are listed, including in the department of the ADI-and-Lobo which takes the Palme d'or, followed by the valley-of-Ntem. It is noted that a lot of citizens, evolving in margin of the legality and sometimes in complicity with certain authorities, are engaging in the exploitation of wildlife resources, regretted Jules Marcellin Ndjaga. The governor of the South has finally recommended that all public administrations active in this fight and all the other actors are working in federating their efforts.

But especially that each link implied in obstructing the road to poaching plays its full role. Other measures have also been taken in the course of the work, including the multiplication of operations punched in the homes of poaching.

The riparian populations are invited to participate in this large and important project to combat the uncontrolled exploitation of the wildlife species. The success of this undertaking remains conditioned by the involvement of all: administrations, populations, international organizations, local NGOS and civil society.
