Don Moen says he’s in talks with UB Vice Chancellor for Music training

Renowned American gospel music singer and song writer, Donald James, aka Don Moen has said he is in talks with UB Vice Chancellor Nalova Lyonga for possibilities of handling training in Music at the university.

Moen made this public, Wednesday, December 10, at the Dorothy Limunga Njeuma Amphitheatre in UB during a press conference ahead of his concert in Limbe on Sunday, December 14.

According to Moen, he is moved by the high level of music produced in Cameroon and the possibility for song writers and singers to be given professional training in music.

Moen said his plan to visit Cameroon for a concert started as far back as two years ago when he met with some Cameroonians in Ghana who called on him to pay a visit to Cameroon.

Moen said the call came to add to several other calls over the years, reason why he used this period to honour his fans here in Cameroon with a series of concerts.

Born June 29, 1950, Don Moen the American singer-songwriter, pastor, and producer of Christian worship music said he did not set out to do music. He said during the Press Conference that his parents forced him to take piano lessons at a very tender age.

Moen said because he wanted to concentrate on Music, he resigned as President of the Integrity Music so as to have more time to worship God.

Before Moen was hired to work for Integrity Music, he said he attended Oral Roberts University and became a Living Sound musician for Terry Law Ministries and travelled with Terry Law for ten years. He produced 11 volumes for Hosanna Music series and worship albums. His first album under his own name, Worship with Don Moen, was released in 1992. His music has total global sales of over five million units.

Moen worked for Integrity Media for over 20 years, serving as creative director and president of Integrity Music, president of Integrity Label Group, and an executive producer of Integrity Music albums. He left Integrity Media in December 2007 to start a new initiative, The Don Moen Company.

The Don Moen Company acquired Media Complete, the church software company that created Media Shout. Moen became a radio host for Don Moen & Friends in 2009. He received a Dove Award for his work on the musical, God with Us, in addition to amassing nine nominations for his songs.

Moen’s first album for Hosanna Music, Give Thanks, became the label’s bestseller. He followed this with a number of successful albums of his own including two, En Tu Presencia and Trono De Gracia, in Spanish. God with Us won the Dove Award for Best Musical. On an Asian tour in 1999 he recorded The Mercy Seat at Singapore Indoor Stadium and Heal Our Land at Yoido Park in South Korea. One of Moen’s albums, I Will Sing, was recorded at Christian Broadcasting Network, TBN.

Moen is in Cameroon in the company of his wife, Laura Moen who have been married for 45 years and have five children. They will tour Yaounde, Douala and Limbe.
