Luck has smiled on yet another inhabitant of Douala, as he joined the club of multi-millionaires created by the citizen-friendly enterprise, Pari Mutuel Urbain Camerounaise, PMUC.
He won the colossal sum of FCFA 110 million which was put up for grabs by PMUC in the BANKO of November 28, 2014, when he got the winning numbers in order. In fact the Douala resident grabbed a total sum of FCFA 111,143,000 from PMUC.
It was thus the turn of the Douala resident who has been betting regularly for some years now in PMUC games (horse races). His luck came in the night race at Vincennes on Friday, November 28, 2014 of PMUC’s Quinté +, which had become a BANKO (huge sum up for grabs) following a number of carry-forwards of the Qunité +.
The carry-forward was due to the fact that no body had the winning numbers in order, in the past few races. Following the carry-forwards, PMUC thus put up for grab in that BANKO of November 28, the huge sum of FCFA 110 million. A total of 16 horses were to take part in the night race at Vincennes.
The Joyful Story
The joyful story of the lucky Douala inhabitant goes that, after selecting his numbers and making some combinations of the possible winning numbers in the horse race in the night of November 28, he, earlier that day, drove to a PMUC Kiosk at a road junction at Akwa-Douala, popularly known as ‘Ancien Cinéma Berlitz’.
He sat in his vehicle and beckoned on the sales agent in the kiosk to come over. He then validated the combinations he had made for the Quinté + (BANKO) for the sum of FCFA 44,000. But the sales lady at the PMUC kiosk, Yolande Flore Phako, proposed to the man to go in for other combinations.
She disclosed to the man that many people around, were putting their bets on horses Numbers 14 and 16. The man accepted the proposal, and made other combinations. He spent a total of over FCFA 80,000, to validate all his combinations.
At the end of the night race at Vincennes, the winning numbers of the horses were: 2, 8, 4, 16, 14. Interestingly, those were the numbers the man had staked on, thus, he was the winner of the BANKO.
Bank Transaction
As is usually the case when somebody wins a big sum of money, the PMUC management and the winner of the BANKO of FCFA 110 million, early last week, were at one of the BICEC branches in Douala, where a bank transaction took place to transfer the money from PMUC’s account into the account of the BANKO winner.
It is worth noting that the winner of the November 28 BANKO also validated another combination for that race, which had the wining numbers in disorder. He also received some money for that. This raised the total amount he received from PMUC, to FCFA 111,143,000.
After the money transfer, a ceremony was organised at the PMUC Headquarters in Douala on December 3, 2014, for the handing over of a symbolic cheque to the newly created multimillionaire. The ceremony, which was presided over by the General Manager of PMUC, Paul Louis Tasso, was attended, among many others, by the representatives of two traditional partners of PMUC on such occasions, BICEC and Gras Savoye (insurance company). The winner of the November 28 BANKO was present at the ceremony but, understandably, he expressed the wish to remain anonymous.
Welcome To Club Of Multimillionaires
Speaking at the colourful ceremony which took place in an atmosphere of grand gaiety, the General Manager of PMUC, Tasso, expressed joy at the fact that one of their regular ‘stakers’ had taken his turn to win a huge sum of money. He said PMUC is always happy when it contributes to improve the lives or financial situation of a Cameroonian family.
Tasso congratulated as well as welcomed the lucky winner of the November 28 BANKO into the Club of PMUC-created multimillionaires. Tasso said his gratitude was further happy sustained by the period at which the client has won the over FCFA 100 million – at the end-of-year festivities.
The PMUC boss urged all ‘stakers’ in PMUC games across the country, who have not yet won huge sums of money, to continue to have hope and thus continue to bet in PMUC games. He assured them that their own turns will definitely come for them to join the club of multimillionaires created by PMUC. Tasso also congratulated all PMUC sales agents for the wonderful work they are doing in the field for both the company and the ‘stakers’.
The representatives of BICEC and Gras Savoye, each took turns to explain the role the companies play, which is that of giving technical advice to a new PMUC-created multi-millionaire, on how to better manage as well as secure the money won.
After the handing over of the symbolic cheque, came the popping of champagne to honour the new PMUC-created multimillionaire. The PMUC management also offered a cocktail party to celebrate the big win.
