This announcement was made by Prof. Dieudonne Oyono, Rector of this institution at the end of the 33rd session of the governing body of this institution, which was held in the premises of the Doctoral School in Akwa.

Closed since November 3, 2010, the Hostel of the University of Douala will be finally reopened at the end of the month of November 2014.

The announcement was made by Prof. Dieudonne Oyono, Rector of this institution at the 33rd session of its Board of Directors held on Tuesday, November 04, 2014 at the doctoral school based in Akwa.

According to the patron of this University which has nine faculties, this reopening will be "coupled with the installation of the solar street lights on the site."

The hostel had been closed due to ongoing repairs. The reopening of this hostel of over 300 occupants will relieve a good amount of students who are faced with the high cost of housing around campus. "We are going to ensure that it starts functioning", rector assured.

However, this is not the first time that Prof. Dieudonne Oyono has announced the reopening of the hostel. He noted on October 10, 2013, during the 31st session of the Governing Council of the institution that, this infrastructure would work during the 2013-2014 academic year.

The University of Douala announces two innovations during this academic year, namely: the establishment of a digital library and furnishing of all lecture halls and classrooms with computers and video projectors.
