Drastic safety measures introduced at Cmr-Chad border crossing

Two-wheeled vehicles are now banned from crossing the N’Gueli border Bridge linking Cameroon and Chad, in anticipation of possible incursions of the Nigerian Islamist sect Boko Haram, APA learnt from security sources Tuesday.

At the level of the entrance linking the Chadian capital N'Djamena to the Cameroonian town of Kousseri, careful identification and the extensive controls are imposed on pedestrians and vehicles by the security forces of the two countries.

Similarly, at the level of the border crossing, a giant scanner to detect weapons, ammunition or narcotic drugs has been installed.

Meanwhile, sources have reported the numerous arrests of suspected members of the Islamist sect, and also the discovery of arms caches in the region of the far North where the Yaoundé Government has for two months deployed considerable human and logistical resources.
