Driver Dies in Vehicle Collision

One person was reported dead and several others injured Thursday, August 30, following a collision between a "Cargo" and a stationed truck a few walk from the Wouri Bridge in Deido, Douala. Victims were on board a taxi-by-bus commonly called "Cargo" that was transporting city commuters from Bonaberi to Akwa.

Security officers blamed the truck for parking at such a critical position and at such an hour and said the taxi-by-bus driver drove imprudently. The result was collision from the incoming "Cargo" upon the stationed truck. The driver, whose names we could get, immediately died and eight passengers were seriously injured.

By Saturday, most of the passengers were still receiving medical attention at the Laquintinie Hospital, while the corpse of the driver was placed at its mortuary.

Gendarmes close to the bridge are still withholding remains of the shattered bus while the truck is under surveillance hoping to identify its owner for interrogation.
