Drivers decry illegal extortion under pretext of bad parking

For over a month now, the police station area receives several complaints from taxis and motor bikes.

According to police sources, more than fifteen motorists have complained against alleged Douala metropolitan officers who extorted money from them under the pretext of bad parking. These individuals impose the road users fines of 25,000 to 50,000 F.

In support of their action, these 'agents' have documents, which are fake, according to the police. And drivers, probably ignoring the matter to be extended to the prefet of Wouri which will lead to the impoundment of vehicles for bad parking, agree to pay.

Except that it has no delivered receipt against payment. Finally, several motorists eventually decided to get the police informed, but none of the crooks has been arrested for the moment.

Clashes were recorded between these fake agents and motorists who refused to pay these 'fines '. According to witnesses, a fake agent even went to break the keys of a "recalcitrant" taxi driver.

According to the Director of the municipal police in Douala, motorists need to be sensitized about the presence of these fake agents. Meanwhile, the urban community undertakes the necessary measures to eradicate the phenomenon.
