Drivers in Douala were recently trained on road safety. "It was found out that drivers did not know how to use their vehicles well.
Drivers to a large extent operate vehicles in their day to day activity and thus must be able to communicate well, issues that crop up in the use of their vehicles. We are not asking them to be mechanics, but there are some accidents which are preventable if they have knowledge on the operation of their cars".
This is the first phase of a program which aims among other things "to revolutionize the behaviour of drivers at the wheel. Drivers must review panels, learn how to read highway codes etc".
This is an initiative welcomed by the regional delegate for transport in the Littoral, Pamela Ayuketa: "this training fit in the policy of the Minister of transport which aims to reduce accidents to the barest minimum and thus allow for safe movement of people and goods”.
