ELECAM registration ends

The registration of the electoral list came to a close on Sunday in 360 communal branch of Elecam home and abroad. The revision of the electoral lists for the year 2014, opened January 2 and ended Sunday 31 August throughout the 360 communal antennas of Elections Cameroon (Elecam).

According to the provisions of section 74 of the Cameroonian electoral Code, electoral lists are permanent and are subject to an annual review which begins on 1 January and ends on 31 August, throughout the national territory.

The revision of the lists of electorates revolves around two major axes that are upgrading the election file and grooming it. The update of the electoral file figures prominently, the inscriptions on the lists of electors and miscellaneous amendments.

Entries in the lists of electors concerned only persons who have attained majority elections, those who were unable to register in the biometric redesign electoral lists in 2013 and those who changed their place of residence.

The amendments to the electoral file are related to changes of residence and hardware errors detected in names and surnames, filiation, the date and place of birth of electors.

With regard to the biometric recasting of the election file of the Cameroonian Diaspora,it began in February, according to the information available on the Elecam web site.

With regard to the figures available at this date, Africa and Middle East displays 3 910 registered, while Europe, Asia and America total 697 registered.

This amount to a total of 4607 registered in the Cameroonian diaspora within the specified period.
