ELECAM sensitizes voters towards election 2018

During a recent meeting held in Douala, the head of communal antenna of Douala invited the populations, through opinion leaders, to participate in the revision of the electoral process.

He sensitizes the population of Douala 2 so that they can register massively on the electoral list. To achieve this goal, the head of Douala 2 communal antenna of ELECAM Chief invited at a meeting which is held in the Town Hall of Douala, religious, political leaders and civil society to serve as a relay in the awareness of the populations of this electoral process.

Indeed, since launching of the revision of the electoral list on January 2, 2014, only about 400 people of 30 neighborhoods in this district have been registered. A number judged insufficient given the fact that the process stops at the end of next October.

"We shared in a first time account of ELECAM activities for 6 months of operation for the revision of the list of electorates. But we also want to raise the alarm in order to attract the attention of people on the approach of the judgment of this inscription which remains shy since the beginning of operations.

"It is an opportunity to increase awareness for these opinion leaders for them to go and do same ", says Zakari Mohamadou Abdou, the head of ELECAM communal antenna in Douala 2. Mainly involved in this operation, are young people who have reached the voting age in 2014 and the voters who go through changes or various modifications.

According to Zakari Mohamadou Abdou, people still drag their feet because they are not for the most informed of the effectiveness of these operations, and more because this is not the election period.

"It is for this reason that we conducted outside the media campaigns of proximity from 19 to 24 June 2014 in different neighborhoods," he underlined.

This will allow ELECAM to have a reliable electoral file to root out of the lists those deceased in order to have a perfect organization of the elections.
