Ecobank Cameroon has donated equipment to the Efoulan District Hospital in the Yaounde III Subdivision.
The equipment worth FCFA 31 million comprising 2000 Long Lasting Mosquito Bed Nets, 20 beds, one delivery bed, consultation tables and malaria kits were handed over to the Minister of Public Health, André Mama Fouda, on Saturday November 8, 2014 in Yaounde.
The ceremony equally marked the second edition of the Ecobank Day on the theme “Malaria prevention and control in Sub Saharan Africa”.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chief Executive Officer of Ecobank, Moustapha Fall hailed government’s efforts in the fight against malarial notably the distribution of nine million Long lasting Mosquito Bed Nets, free treatment of simple malaria and severe malaria for children below five years.
He said the donation comes to join government’s efforts in the fight against malaria and confirmed the engagement of Ecobank in the fight against malaria. On his part, Minister Mama Fouda thanked Ecobank for the gesture and called on Ecobank not to relent in their efforts but to continue to support government in the fight against malaria.
He also called on other partners to contribute in the fight against malaria so that together with the Ministry of Public Health they can help reduce maternal and infant mortality rate in Cameroon.
The Ecobank Day is and annual initiative of the Groupe Ecobank which has a social dimension whereby the staff expresses their gratitude to the communities through social works with the aim of improving the living conditions of the people.
