The former Director of the Hydrocarbons Prices Stabilisation Fund becomes Minister Delegate to the Minister of Finance.

Friends, relatives, collaborators and well-wishers thronged the Odza-neighbourhood residence of Elung Paul Che in Yaounde as from 5:30 pm on October 2, 2015 with one major reason to jubilate. They had heard on the 5pm-news-broadcast over CRTV’s National Radio Station that the former General Manager of the Hydrocarbons Prices Stabilisation Fund (CSPH) had been appointed to Minister Delegate to the Minister of Finance by the Head of State. When Cameroon Tribune reporters arrived the residence at about 8 pm, more people were still arriving and occupying seats inside the villa and around the courtyard.

Even though the host was out of the country on mission, his spouse, Mrs Elung Sylvie, was cheerfully chaperoning arriving and departing guests such as Minister in charge of Special Duties at the Presidency, Mengot Victor Arrey-Nkongho and CRTV’s George Ewane.

Elung Paul Che was born on October 10, 1968 in Tombel, in Kupe Muanenguba Division of the South West Region. After primary education, he was admitted into Government School, Nyasoso from where he obtained his General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level in 1985.

After obtaining his GCE Advanced Level Certificate in CCAST Bambili, he enrolled into the Faculty of Law and Economic Sciences in the University of Yaounde where he obtained an Undergraduate Degree and later a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Law before gaining admission into the National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM).

Graduating as an Inspector of Treasury, he was successively Treasurer/Paymaster General for the North West and South West Regions before becoming at just 37 years old, the youngest-ever Director of Treasury and later Director General of Treasury in the Ministry of Finance.

He left for studies in Harvard University in the United States of America and upon his return, held other duty posts before his appointment as CSPH boss on April 26, 2013. At 47, he re-enters the Ministry of Finance that he knows rather well.
