Equatorial Guinea closes its borders with Cameroon

Equatorial Guinea has closed its borders with Cameroon, because of the threat of Ebola, without informing the Cameroonian authorities in charge of those border areas.

Vincent Obame Mbita, sub-prefect of Kye-Ossi in the South of Cameroon, 3km from the border with Equatorial Guinea, explained that he had been warned by people that the police authorities of Equatorial Guinea were trying to close the border.

According to him, there was no prior consultation on this subject with their Equatorial Guinea counterparts.

Sébastien Lavenir Essouma Zoa and Nlend Likeng, respectively sub-prefects of the boroughs of Maan and Campo, in the South of Cameroon, also expressed utmost disbelief to this measure.
