Samuel Eto'o has been dropped by Turkish club Antalyaspor after making comments on social media about racism.
The former Barcelona striker wrote on his Instagram account: "Perhaps some people do not feel respect for me because I am black."
The 35-year old then wrote a second post denying the remark was alluding to Antalyaspor chairman Ali Safak Ozturk, who has criticised Eto'o's performances this season.
Eto'o: Antalyaspor chairman my "brother"
Eto'o called the chairman his "brother" in the second post and added that the Turkish people had gotten behind him "wholeheartedly".
"My message was to a person who criticises me unjustly for years and while he continues his criticisms, I kept winning trophies," said Eto'o, who has also played for Chelsea, Everton and Inter Milan.
Antalyaspor however released a statement saying that Eto'o would now have to undergo separate training sessions from the squad until his case was heard by their executive board.
