Extension of railway line to Chad underway

Feasibility studies on the proposed extension of the Cameroonian-Chad railway was brought up at the 3rd session of the commission established by the two countries.

The announcement was made at the end of a three-day workshop by the two parties, completed on Thursday in the Cameroonian capital, Yaounde.

This meeting also saw the establishment of a project cell and the designation of the French group Bollore Africa Logistics as technical partner of the project, with the mission to support the realization of the studies, to provide support to the preparation of the records of presentation of the project to funders, prepare meetings with donors and to make a contribution to the reflections and the institutional and financial arrangements.

The projected cost for the project is 1,400 billion CFA FRANCS. The team already envisages route travels from the terminus of Ngaoundéré (Cameroon) to the Chadian capital, N'Djamena, on a distance of 1,400 km.
