FCFA 600 Million for National Civic Service Trainees

Some 6,000 recently-trained youths will receive assistance this month.

Over 700 associations made up of 6,000 youths recently-trained by the National Civic Service Agency for Participation in Development (NCSAPD) throughout the country will, as from this month of January 2013, start receiving assistance for income-generating projects. The assistance is estimated at over FCFA 600 million.

The pronouncement was made to the press on Saturday, 29 December, 2012 by NCSAPD's Director General, Ayuketah Oswarld Tambe at the institution's head office in Yaounde. "We gave them opportunities to prepare land and sites where they are going to carry out income-generating activities and in January, we will give them the assistance that the Head of State promised the young people," he explained. Ayuketah Oswarld Tambe was speaking at the end of a field visit to encourage over 300 members of the National Youth Council carrying out human investment activities in certain localities of the Yaounde 5 and 6 councils, respectively.

Accompanied by the President of the National Youth Council (NYC), Abdoulaye Abdoulrazak and officials, Ayuketah Oswarld Tambe joined youths working in the Centre for the Elderly called Bethanie Viacam in the Nkolmesseng neighbourhood. There, the delegation discussed with some of the 13 aged people, joined in the preparation of their daily meal, cleaned surrounding bushes and handed bags of rice and toilet rolls, among others, to the Centre's Manager, Reverend Sister Marie Joseph. Later at the Essos Market and Mvog-Betsi neighbourhoods, Ayuketah Oswarld Tambe encouraged hundreds of youths who picked recyclable plastic bags and bottles along major streets. This was in a bid to protect the environment and help accomplish NCSAPD's mission to carry out activities of general interest.
