A fake lieutenant was arrested in Bidzar while he was purportedly on his way to Maroua on a mission. This fake Lieutenant was arrested January 21 in the Northern Region by the road safety police team.
Dressed in a T-shirt of the designated police, this man was spotted at the check posts as lieutenant Abakar Mohamadou. He was reportedly, arrested at Bidzar by elements of the police in Mayo Louti, 120km from Garoua. "He presented himself as a police when he was stopped. It is true that he was wearing a T-shirt of the designated police of their station, but since the third Regional Commander, Colonel Essoh Jules-César, had cautioned us to be very careful and scrutinise at the least suspicion, I was inclined to thoroughly check his vehicle," said Chief Warrant Officer.
"After the checks, we found that the individual in question was not a policeman", says Chief Warrant Officer.
After searching his pickup, stocks of sleeping pills such as the Tramol and Valium as well as mobile phones, laptops and Usb keys were found.
The records of the vehicle bore the name of a certain Alahdji Issa who resides in Douala and not the policeman he claimed to be.
He has thus been handed over to the police to be later tried for forgery.
