The management and staff of the Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance, FEICOM, on December 20, 2012 signed a collective convention to ameliorate the latter's working conditions. According to the convention, workers will be given allowances and gratuities that did not exist before. It also stipulates that the staff delegates will hence designate workers to represent staff at board meetings.
As for the increase in salaries, FEICOM's General Manager, Philippe Camille Akoa, revealed that from January 2013, support staff (categories 1 to 6) will enjoy a 12 per cent increase, 10 per cent for intermediate staff (categories 7 to 9) while senior staff (categories 10 to 12), will experience a 10 per cent increase. Philippe Camille further added that if workers are granted the 13th month salary, it is indicative that they are well paid.
The convention was signed by six workers' representatives and eight from management, including the General Manager of FEICOM. The President of the Mixed Negotiation Commission for the putting in place of the convention from the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, Raymond Yapele, also signed on behalf of his ministry. The Minister of Labour and Social Security, Grégoire Owona, together with his peers of the Ministries of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, Rene Sadi and the Minister of Small and Medium-size Enterprises, Laurent Etoundi Ngoa, handed 159 silver medals, 41 silver gild and 20 gold medals to deserving workers.
