Fight Against Terrorism:Abuja to host regional security meeting

French Ambassador to Cameroon announced on Friday in Yaounde during an audience at MINREX that President François Hollande will also take part in the summit.

The Ambassador of the Republic of France to Cameroon, Christine Robichon, has announced the participation of French President in the upcoming 2nd Regional Summit on Security in Nigeria and neighbouring countries. The French Diplomat was speaking to Cameroon Tribune in Yaounde on Friday April 22, 2016, shortly after her audience with the Minister Delegate in the Ministry of External Relations in charge of Relations with the Commonwealth, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute.

The Abuja summit to hold on May 14, 2016, she said, is a follow-up to the 1st Regional summit that took place in Paris, France on May 17, 2014. Ambassador Robichon stated that military operations in the fight against Boko Haram and the humanitarian crisis caused by the barbaric activities of the terrorist sect amongst other issues will feature prominently during the Abuja meeting to be attended by Benin, Chad, Cameroon, Niger, Nigeria, France and the representatives of the European Union, Britain and United States.

Friday’s audience with Dr Dion Ngute also offered the French Ambassador the opportunity to express her government’s satisfaction with the government of Cameroon for signing the Paris Accord on Climate Change concluded during the COP21 Climate Change Summit last December in Paris. She expressed her wish to see all member countries sign the agreement in a bid to attenuate the devastating effects of climate change and protect planet earth.
