Fire consumes Maroua craft Centre

A fire outbreak at Maroua has razed the large building that sheltered for more than half a century, the craft Centre of Maroua.

According to sources in the capital city of the region of the far North, fire broke out on Thursday night in this centre and was controlled by firefighters nearly an hour after.

The intervention of firefighters although late, put the flames out saving the market central located just at the entrance of the craft Centre. The causes of the fire however, remains unknown.

The fire according to our source has destroyed all the artworks that were in the structure, but no casualties were recorded.

This fire is another blow for this tourist region already battered by the activities of Boko Haram, the Islamist extremist sect.
