Fire razes poultry section of Bonamoussadi market

Catastrophe struck traders in the poultry sector to Bonamoussadi market, located north of the city of Douala.

Fire ravaged 30 shops on Friday, November 28, 2014 at 11 pm at the Bonamoussadi market.

The majority of shops damaged by flames were those involved in the sale of chickens.

Nearby, the fire also destroyed a dozen of shops dealing with ready-made clothes. Notwithstanding the virulence of the fire, the riparian population and firefighters intervened to first identify the flames and then extinguish the fire, a reaction that lasted nearly three hours.

The origin of the fire is currently unknown. Owners of burned shops estimate losses to nearly one hundred million CFA FRANCS.
