In what many describe as a long awaited response to demands of Common Law Lawyers, President Paul Biya has redeployed an English speaking Magistrate to the Bamenda Court of First Instance and High Court. Fon Ignatius MBAFOR (Matriculate number 543 117- J) is the new State Prosecutor.

The Senior Justice who hails from Batibo ,MOMO division Justice Nchang Augustin Amongwa, transferred to Adamawa. The latter was accused of judicial harassment by some villagers in the land crisis between the people of Esu and business magnet Baba Danpullo.

The appointment of Fon Ignatius MBAFOR comes few weeks after the English version of the OHADA uniform Act was translated and handed to the President of the Cameroon Bar Association. It is part of demands of Common law lawyers who got worried in verdicts pronounced by Francophone Magistrates who found it difficulties in speaking English in Courts whose majority of users are English speakers.

The appointment also comes few weeks after Justice Minister Laurent Esso had told lawyers that the Head of State has promised to redeploy Francophone magistrates to Civil Law zones and Anglophone Magistrates to Common Law zones.
