Four charges have been brought against Abdoulaye Harissou

Mr Abdoulaye Harissou since Tuesday, October 21, 2014 was informed of the charges against him. The Maroua lawyer arrested August 27, 2014 in this city by Cameroonian secret services for "threats to the security of the state" and held for months, has been notified of the charges brought against him.

With his co-accused Abubakar Siddiki, the accused will appear for "insulting the President of the Republic," "hostility against the country and revolution," "complicity in murder" and "port and illegal possession of arms of war". They will be tried before the Military Court in Yaounde.

Harissou and Siddiki were notified at the old Bmm renamed "main prison in Yaoundé" by two judges of the Military Court in Yaounde accompanied by a clerk and defense lawyers. Harissou and his fellow accused will be cross-examined as part of the judicial investigation by Judge Aline Mbia .

The arrest of Mr. Harissou divides Cameroonian opinion. A number of people who support him believe he was arrested because he was close to former Secretary General of the Presidency of Paul Biya, Marafa Hamidou Yaya. His accusers believe it is part of an alleged plot formented by the former Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization.
