Garoua witnessed a similar disaster to that of Nsam in Yaoundé Saturday night as a major fire erupted in Garoua between the air base and the municipal stadium of Poumpoumre, specifically in the Doualaré district.
According to witnesses, flames from an unknown origin went off from a truck from Nigeria heading to Maroua and completely consumed the truck and its contents.
The driver as well as his companions managed to escape before the fire got serious. Besides the loss of the truck and 3,000 litres of fuel that he was carrying, no loss of human lives was recorded.
This accident comes at a time where the Government delegate with the urban community of Garoua, Ahmadou Elhadj bode, launched a campaign to clean the city of Garoua to prepare for the female AFCON 2016.
Last week, the sellers of the adulterated Nigeria fuel were driven out of the main streets of the town of Garoua.
