Garoua-Boulaï experiences repeated attacks

The Cameroonian army machine-gunned a horde of Central African rebels who attempted an incursion in this border town.

On Sunday, October 05, 2014, while the World teacher’s day was being celebrated, an armed gang from the Central African Republic attacked the Cameroonian defense forces positioned at the boundary with the neighbouring country. According to security sources, "it is this group of individuals who launched the offensive.

Thinking that they would surprise our defence forces, they responded vigorously pushing the attackers back to their territory. At the end of fed crossfire, provide our sources, 'no loss of human life was recorded in our ranks. However, in the camp of the enemy there were several deaths and others injured".

In all likelihood, this group of assailants who attacked last Sunday belong to the faction of Abdoulaye Miskine, who had issued an ultimatum against Cameroon on 20 September 2014, if their leader held in the secretariat of State for defence was not released within 72 hours. This armed band, it should be remembered, had kidnapped eight Cameroonians at Garoua-Boulaï.

Security sources revealed that "these repeated incursions by Central African Republic rebels intended primarily towards the authorities of Garoua-Boulai.

For security measures, the local administrative authorities have temporarily closed some schools, such as Sabo-Ngari secondary college.
