Gendarmes take courses in road safety

Gendarmes have been receiving training since 8th September in Yaoundé, in courses on road safety. On Tuesday at Camp Yeyap in Yaounde, some gendarmes followed carefully the teachings given by local instructors and internationals related to the intervention of the gendarmes after a traffic accident.

On the process for extracting at the central level of the information gathered at the scene, the procedure varies depending on whether the people involved are civil or military and whether the cars belong to individuals or public authorities.

This information is not new though except that, in the strategy to combat road accidents, the national gendarmerie opted for this training to serve as a reminder. Participants were from the Northern, Eastern, southern and Centre motorized road platoons.

After this Yaounde session, the training course will be done in the Southwest, Northwest, Littoral and Western regions. In addition to the techniques of reporting lines, other training modules focused on the collection of important statistics for the gendarmerie which is one of the administrations of the national statistical system.

By collecting these data on the field, instructors insisted that constables do so in accordance with the relevant standards. These statistics help in the development of the proposals and the orientation of prevention policies.

But what seems new in this training is the technique to stop culprits in cases of attempted escape. This training was initiated by the national gendarmerie is supported by the European Union.
