The CRTV journalist defended his thesis in Yaounde on Friday on July 26, 2013.

George Ngide Ewane, senior journalist, CRTV and special correspondent at the Presidency of the Republic has a new appellation. He is now called Dr. George Ngide Ewane.

He got the new academic distinction following the brilliant defence of his thesis on Friday July 26, 2013 at the Department of English in the University of Yaounde 1 before a powerful jury chaired by Professor Talla Kashim Ibrahim of the University of Buea. PhD holder George Ngide Ewane went through four hours of thorough examination by the members of the jury before he was given his new title. His thesis "Dynamic Organicism and the Romantic Imagination: A study in the Poetry of Percy Bysshe Shelley", was examined from page to page. The jury asked him difficult questions but the candidate was up to the task.

Prior to the debate, the candidate was given 30 minutes to present his work. George Ewane in his presentation brought to the limelight the philosophy of one of the most difficult, complex but exciting poets of the Romantic Age, Percy Bysshe Shelley. The English poet was born on August 4, 1792 and died on July 8, 1822.

The thesis examines Shelley's philosophic and poetic visions of social and political mutations in the universe. It is divided into an introduction, six chapters and a conclusion, each of which fits closely to the other. Before the examination proper, the candidate's supervisor Professor John Nkemgang Nkengasong, noted with satisfaction the work done by his candidate. He argued that the work is an interesting and relevant study and that the candidate has a thorough mastery of romantic poetry. After reading, listening and interacting with the candidate, the jury then announced that George Ngide Ewane is Dr. in English. Professor Talla Kashim Ibrahim presented the candidate as Dr. Ewane George Ngide.
