A one-day workshop on the functions of special status Judicial Police Officers took place in Yaounde yesterday July 8, 2015.

Agents of the Ministry of Communication in charge of advertising are generally Regional Delegates, Service Heads and Divisional Delegates who do not have the necessary skills to carry out inquiries in penal matters. Most of them do not have knowledge of the law and can therefore not be efficient.

It is in this light that a one-day workshop to train officials of the Ministry of Communication in the functions of Judicial Police Officers of special competence took place in Yaounde yesterday July 8, 2015.

Speaking at the opening, the Minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary said the regulation and revamp of the advertising sector needs synergy of actions between government, partners and users and a permanent level of information, knowledge and procedures of the sector. He called on the participants to show proof of assiduity, participation and engagement, and implement the knowledge acquired during the training.

Participants were drilled on the notion of offences, constitutive elements of offences, penal responsibility, repression and competent jurisdiction for judging cases, among others. At the end of the training, the Ministry of Communication hopes to improve the regulation and revamp of the advertising sector by enabling the Advertising Council in fully playing its role.
