The first National Vice President of ANDP Party, a staff at the Meme Divisional Delegation of Secondary Education, Elisus Agbor, has been fired from the delegation and redeployed as a classroom teacher to CCAS Kumba.
The redeployment decision is contained in a letter signed by the Governor of the South West Region, Bernard Okalia Bilai, recently. The decision, this reporter gathered, was effected by the Meme Divisional Delegate for Secondary Education, John Akwo Eyoh.
The decision by the Governor, this reporter gathered, followed a series of reports forwarded by the Delegate regarding the attitude and conduct of the ANDP National Vice President, who until now has been acting as protocol officer to the Delegate.
The sacking decision has sparked controversy and bitterness in the minds of militants of the ANDP in Kumba, who see it as marginalisation of their party boss. This reporter gathered that the sacked Elisus Agbor from Manyu Division, who was redeployed alongside another staff whose name we got as Ebangha, has refused to accept the decision of the Governor, stating that the letter was fake.
We learned that the party boss has communicated the matter with his national President, Ahmadou Mustapha, and a redress is expected in the days
ahead.
Also some elite from Manyu Division resident in Kumba, who spoke to this reporter on the basis of anonymity, said that it was an open tribalism exhibited by the Delegate, given that two Manyu staff suffered the same faith.
Elisus Agbor and Ebangha have been demoted to teach Mathematics in CCAS Kumba, a thing this reporter gathered will be impossible since the duo “have been so used to living in freedom at the Delegation, only to collect salaries at the end of month”.
A diehard ANDP militant attested that it was a big humiliation to their party boss given that he has just a few years to go on retirement. The militant confirmed that the high connections of Elisus Agbor could not permit him serve as classroom teacher. He said the Delegate was merely being jealous of their national Vice President.
He went further to express disbelief that the other staff who is
physically disabled could be sent to teach when the minister was fully aware of his situation. Other symparthisers of the ANDP National Vice President told this reporter that their friend had served so well at the Delegation for the period he has worked and has never been in conflict with his Delegate.
They confessed that Agbor worked so closely with the former Delegate, Epie Ekale, and was entrusted with many duties of responsibilities.
A college Principal, who reacted on the matter, stated that the redeployment was the best decision since the Delegation has been crowded with idle staff without functions.
He wondered why a high grade professional teacher will prefer to work under the Delegate as protocol officer when schools lack teachers. The Principal who termed the Delegate as a no-nonsense man, said it was rather unwise to allow idle staff to be parading the Delegation when schools were in dire need of teachers.
At the moment while the Principal of CCAS Kumba awaits two new teachers into Mathematics department, it is not quite sure if the ANDP boss will succumb to the decision given that his party National President, who works at the Presidency of the Republic, may intervene in his favour.
All attempts to get the Divisional Delegate comment on the issue were futile as his phone failed to go through.
