Governor reassures enclaved Furu Awa population

Adolphe Lele Lafrique travelled on motorbike and by canoe to this distant locality.

It was a day for the population of Furu Awa who saw the first-ever Governor of the North West Region to reach out to the land of their ancestors by road.

The event was the socio-economic tour of Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique who braved the bumpy roads, crossed the River Katsina-ala and in the absence of a road, he used a commercial motorcycle through the rough path to reach out to the people of Fura Awa Subdivision, Menchum Division.

He travelled with a message of encouragement, steadfastness and commitment to the fatherland, Cameroon which is one and indivisible.

It was also a moment to reassure the community of Furu Awa Subdivision that they are an integral part of Cameroon that is poised to emerge in 2035.

It was heart-warming for a people whose geographical location does not help matters in the area of development. Thus, the people expressed enthusiasm when the Governor and a team of about 50 from Bamenda sized up their development efforts on-the-spot in Furu Awa.

The visit which also carried a sovereignty dimension prescribed vigilance in the face of threats by terrorists in the nation. It took the governor through Kpep village where he sized up the border market before crossing River Katsina-ala by canoe.

The Subdivision showcases huge potentials in timber and cocoa and the governor went visiting the Zangsama forest, their Agricultural Post, Furu Awa market, Mount Tosso, Gamna-Mubi road, Urban health centre, GHS Fura Awa and the Furu Awa Telecentre.

The Administrator of Furu Awa Subdivision, Adamu Shuibou Ibrahim and the Mayor told the visiting governor about the heights and depths of the area.

Curtains later dropped on the tour with the governor inspiring the population to focus on development, education, healthy lifestyle and foster peace in the locality. Another rough and rugged road took Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique to the other enclaved Bum Subdivision, Boyo Division.

He was in Fonfuka from where he went discovering the newly created Kimbi Park before retiring to visit the Fundong-Konene road where maintenance works are on course.
