The second semester of the Regional Governors’ Conference has ended in Yaounde with the resolve to reinforce security at refugee camps.
The Minister Delegate in the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, Jules Doret Ndongo who closed the conference, implored Governors to keep a keen eye on refugee camps as these camps have been identified as melting pots of vulnerable and dangerous people.
The Minister Delegate also prescribed vigilance in the use of traditional weapons during cultural ceremonies given the countless accidents unintentionally caused by inexperienced people.
The Minister Delegate also called on Regional Governors to carefully watch over the country’s borders. Other areas where security needs to be reinforced are bars and other relaxation zones during this festive period.
Other recommendations at the end of the meeting included:
-Ensuring hygiene and sanitation.
-Implementation of road safety measures.
-Supervision and coordination of polio vaccination.
-Reinforcement of the decentralization process.
-Fairness in the selection of traditional rulers.
Minister Jules Doret Ndongo moreover, urged the Governors to ensure the effective execution of projects within the three-year Emergency Development Plan.
