Govt to prosecute reckless drivers

Prime Minister and Head of Government Yang Philemon has said that the Cameroonian courts are more than ready to sanction perpetrators of fatal road accidents.

This however, will take effect after investigations have been conducted to ascertain the cause of the accident. The Anglophone Prime Minister was responding to a question from an opposition MP during a plenary session of the Lower House of parliament.

This issue emerged when Hon. Robert Lipot from the Union Des Populations Du Cameroun, UPC held the Prime Minister to task when he observed that Yang Philemon was heading a government that has failed woefully to provide decent public transportation facilities to the Cameroonian people.

The MP accused the Prime Minister of allowing "perpetrators of fatal truck accidents to go scot free". The Prime Minister like every CPDM militant enlisted government actions aimed at sustainable structures that would guarantee an efficient road network in the country.

Yang Philemon noted that even with the liberalisation of the transport sector, the CPDM regime is still involved and helping to make Cameroonians enjoy good public transportation services.
