HND, other examinations begin nationwide

A serene atmosphere was observed yesterday June 21, 2016, in the University of Buea where 2,016 candidates are sitting.

This year’s Higher National Diploma, HND examination, kicked off in the country yesterday June 21, 2016, with officials reporting a hitch-free start.

Some 7,601 candidates are sitting HND, 1,952 for the “Diplome superieure d’études professionelles,” DSEP and 510 for Higher Professional Diploma, HPD examinations. Writing lasts till July 3, 2016.

The University of Buea is hosting one of the three centres in the South West Region with 2,016 candidates writing in some six fields of study, notably Management, Accounting, Banking and Finance, Insurance, Urban Development and Surveys, and Civil Engineering. The other two centres are the Higher Institute for Management Sciences and Saint Francis Higher Institute of Nursing, Biaka, all in Buea.

Although our reporters were barred from talking to candidates to get an on-the-spot appraisal of the examination, Cameroon Tribune met the Director of the College of Technology, University of Buea, Dr. Sone Ekonde.

He explained that the morning session started at 8 am with Practices of Management for management candidates, Practices of Banking for Banking and Finance candidates, Technology for Civil Engineering candidates and other introductory subjects.

Dr. Ekonde explained that the examination runs from June 21-24, 2016, for all series. He confirmed that all was going according to plan, notably appropriate invigilation, candidate discipline, and writing material in adequate supply.
