As part of activities to commemorate the sixth World kidney Day, the Chantal Biya Foundation has been carrying out free screening tests and consultations in some Primary Schools to check the state of the disease.

The 2016 edition is being celebrated under the theme: “Kidney disease and children: Act early to prevent it.”

The health experts from the Foundation also gave useful tips on how to prevent kidney diseases to both pupils and parents.

In order to prevent the disease at early stage, experts emphasize the need to encourage and facilitate education; early detection and a healthy life style in children, from birth to old age is necessary. This they say might tend to prevent any kidney damage like acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease.
They also aimed at treating children with inborn and acquired disorders of the kidney.

As such, parents, caregivers, young patients, policy makers and the general public are the main actors of sensitization campaign so as to build a healthier future generation.

The mission of World Kidney Day is to raise awareness of the importance of the kidneys to human health and to reduce the frequency and impact of kidney diseases and its associated health problems worldwide.
