Heavy Duty Vehicle Crushes Student in Douala

Melanie, 18, died early yesterday while hurrying to write the BEPC examination in Bonaberi.

Blood spilled all over the junction near Cimetière de Bonaberi following a ghastly accident yesterday June 7, 2012 involving a heavy duty vehicle and a commercial motorcycle.

Eyewitnesses attributed the accident which occurred at about 6:30 a.m. to the recklessness of the driver of the vehicle who refused right of way to the motorcycle rider and his two passengers.

The result was a brush from the rear of the vehicle that pushed the motorcycle on to the tarmac. Young Melanie, who sat between the rider and her female classmate, died on the spot after the vehicle's back wheels crushed her head. The rider sustained a fracture on the left hand while the other student passenger who was behind, received bruises. The two are receiving medical attention at the Bonassama Hospital where the corpse was reportedly taken to.
