Hemodialysis products out of stock in Yaounde

Patients with kidney dysfunction have staged a sitting strike at the Heamodialysis centre of the Yaoundé General Hospital in Ngoussou.

The strike is to protest the current shortage of Heamodialysis products in the centre.

The patients who turned out at the centre with placard demanding for treatment for renal dysfunction told reporters that for several days, hospital authorities of the main specialized treatment centre in Yaounde have systematically sent them away for lack of products.

Some patients say they have travelled to Mbalmayo for treatment, thereby incurring high cost. They also complained that about seven other sufferers of renal dysfunction have died for lack of blood detoxicification.

The patients cry fowl at the fact that the Head of State had provided subventions for the treatment of Kidney failures but main Heamodialysis hospital in Yaounde constantly runs short of product.

At Press time, no hospital official was available to shed light on the situation.
