High Expectations For Rumpi Project Phase II

Officials of the South West Development Authority (SOWEDA) a Buea-based development catalyst and the population of the region in general are hopes high for the second phase of the Rumpi Area Participatory Rural Development Project. The aspirations of the people were made known by SOWEDA officials following the Board of Directors meeting over the weekend in Buea to examine its 2012 administrative and management accounts.

SOWEDA's Board Chairman, Mbongo Molongo Noah, declared that prospects for the second phase of Rumpi Project are very high while expressing gratitude through the Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development for spearheading the course. Similarly, SOWEDA's Director of General Affairs, Kange Elinge told reporters that letters are being sent to government funding bodies like the African Development Bank (ADB) and most recently to Japanese government for a possible funding.

Meanwhile at the level of SOWEDA in Buea, a workshop is currently going on involving all stakeholders drawn from the six regions to elaborate on the project document which will be submitted to whosoever would accept to fund the project. The project document being streamlined is expected to bring out the real needs that would extricate poverty in the region.

Meantime, SOWEDA's Board of Directors adopted the 2012 administrative and management accounts that was balance in income and expenditure at FCFA 852,713,998, as well as 2012 report of activities. Mr Kange reiterated the principal interventions of SOWEDA in the domains of agriculture, health and infrastructural development.
