ICT University in Yaounde hosted a public lecture to this effect on January 5, 2013.
« Today, you can hardly have any good educational system without recourse to information and communication technologies. They provide educational training material." Prof. Victor Mbarika, President of ICT-University (ICT-U) Cameroon, affiliate of ICT-University USA holds strongly that if Cameroon and Africa want to make strides in strengthening their educational systems, emphasis must be laid on Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).
"Making ICTs a Reality for Africa's Higher Education: Research, Training and Funding" was the focus of a public lecture the ICT Professor presented in the ICT-U Cameroon campus in Yaounde, on January 5, 2012. "Cameroon is on the verge of a big boom in ICT, but Cameroonians can only benefit from it when the carrying capacity of the telecommunication channel is beefed up. This will provide the high-speed connectivity needed for development of ICT sectors of e-education, e-learning, telemedecine as well as e-commerce, and above all, a platform where farmers will be able to sell their produce," he explained.
Also participating in the public lecture was the Vice Chancellor of ICT-U Cameroon, Prof. Beban Sammy Chumbow.
