“Information received by the administrative authorities from the vigilante committees of the Mayo-Sava, published by Loeil Du Sahel, explains the circumstances during which the suicide bombers were caught.

The president of Limani vigilante committee, David Tolki on Thursday, March 24, 2016 said "Today, around 8 pm, we were informed that three suicide bombers were roaming around Banki, Limani and Amchide. We made arrangements and members of vigilante committees were immediately placed on alert,“ he informed Akaou Babila, the SDO of the Mayo-Sava Division.

Following the instructions of the SDO six units of Limani vigilante committee set out to hunt the suicide bombers.

“Around 5 am, we saw two girls. A good distance from us, I asked them what they doing out so early. When I tried to question them, one of the two suicide bombers tried to flee. Seeing her suspicious move, I asked my colleague to give me the gun to shoot her.

That’s when she begged me not to kill her. She said she was carrying explosive, but promised not to trigger them. I was scared and as a precautionary measure, we began to throw stones. One shot her on the head and she fell.

Carefully, one of us approached her and removed the exclusives belts she was wearing. The second suicide bomber was very corporative and not particularly aggressive.

The girl had disabled her explosives herself and we recovered them. That’s when we called the soldiers who came and took both of them, “says David Tolki, president of Limani vigilance committee.

The military took thirty minutes to arrive at the scene. During that time David Tolki took advantage to chat with the suicide bombers. “The older of the two speaks Kanuri, Hausa and English and the younger can express herself a little in Mandara,” he said.

According to their statements, two men had dropped both at the edge of Limani.A total of 32 explosives were found on the two-suicide bombers. The first was 17 and the second, 15-year-old.

“The older of the two suicide bombers who is currently in care at the infirmary of the garrison of the 42nd Motorized Infantry Battalion (BIR) of Mora, said she attended Chibok high school in Nigeria. She said her name is Musa Assatou “says a source within the sector # 1 of the Joint Multinational Force (FMM) whose headquarters is located in Mora.

However, the fact that Assatou Musa, who obviously valued her life is well expressed in English, in addition to the Mandara and Hausa, cause for optimism. “She speaks a foreign language which is very rare for suicide bombers. We have stopped a lot, but so far no one spoke English, even broken English,” notes David Tolki.
