I also own land in Fako – Tiku Tambe

Christopher Tiku Tambe, Secretary of the South West office of the National Commission on Human Rights and Freedoms (NCHRF), has told The Journal that he has land in his name in Molyko.

However, he was quick to clarify that the over 600square metres of land isn't part of surrendered Fako land. He explained that the land exists only on paper and he is still waiting for surveyors to take him to the actual site.

Tambe was reacting to claims made by some chiefs that he is also a benefactor of surrendered CDC lands to Fako Chiefs.

He also denies claims that he gave Chief Daniel Epupa, FCFA 1 million to buy him over as one of those fighting against the unscrupulous sales of Bakweri land. He spoke to Atia Azohnwi.

The land allocated to me at the Molyko new layout is not a CDC surrendered land. They gave me National Land. I was apportioned land that I have not seen with my own eyes. If they have the land, let them go and show me and I will take the land. What we are fighting is the grabbing of CDC surrendered land.

For your information, if they are not even aware, I have land in Batoke. The chiefs are not the ones who gave me that land in Molyko. That land was given by the government through the SDO. The land is 600square metres. Let them show you the documents of the land and who I sold it to me and for how much.

They should show you the receipts. Where is the land? Why should I be selling land when I need land? If I needed money, I will sell the one in Batoke which is about 2000square metres.

I’m not the type that will take land and sell. As a Cameroonian, I have the right to own land anywhere, but such land should not be CDC land. CDC surrendered land is not subject to sale.

Do I need to buy people to join my camp? If I had money I’ll rather send my child to study in England. My daughter was the best student in the GCE A/L in Cameroon. If I see Chief Epupa Ekum, I may not know him. Why should I spend such an amount on something I’ll not have any benefit from?

As far as land in Fako is concerned, I have already finished my job. The damage has been done already. So what they are trying to do is the last kick of a dying horse. They are all under investigation.

If they think that they have credible information for me to be investigated, then they can go ahead and put forth that evidence. As far as I’m concerned, my job is finished. I wanted to expose the illegality and I have done that.
