The security situation in the Far North Region has forced several Cameroonians to flee their homes escaping the atrocities of Boko Haram.

The internally displaced persons who escaped for their lives living almost everything behind are living under difficult conditions with relatives or in camps.

The situation of this vulnerable group Cameroonians was at the focus of discussions between the Regional Director of the International Organization for Migration in West and Central Africa, Richard Danziger and the Prime Minister – Head of Government, Philemon Yang.

At the end of the audience, the Regional Director of the International Organization for Migration in West and Central Africa announced that Cameroon stands to benefit from further assistance to handle internally displaced persons and refugees in the Far North Region of Cameroon.

Richard Danziger said the assistance from the donor community will be provided only after an assessment is made on the migrant situation in Cameroon.

The donations will be oriented to refugees and internally displaced persons are in dire need. The evaluation will be carried out principally in the Far North and East regions of Cameroon where thousands of refugees and internally displaced persons have found shelter.
