Illegal hotels prevalent in Yaounde

400 outlawed establishments have already been spotted in Yaoundé by the local services of the Mintoul, on a field inspection mission.

According to the inspectors who went down to the field, several hostels and rest rooms operate illegally in the city of Yaounde. Most at times, houses which at first site can be considered the resident of people have been turned into a guest rooms.

In the rooms, a summarily coated bed with a sheet occupies the bulk of the piece. A copy of the bible is place on his bedside, and a dim light is usually in place. The place mostly bears pungent smell of sweat and dirt, which severely irritates the nostrils.

It was also an opportunity to note that, in the hotel sector, the State remains at the heart of the concerns for quality. The only five star hotel in Yaoundé belongs to the state while major part of the sector is controlled by private investors.
